Non-governmental organization, Maltiti foundation, officially launched it’s 2020 Health and Tourism project on 7th October 2020 under the Theme: “A healthy woman makes a wealthy world”. The event was held virtually via zoom and streamed live on the foundation’s social media pages.
Speaking at the Launch, the Founder of the foundation Hajia Fawzia Karim gave some insight to what inspired her to set up the organization and how impactful it has been to give back to the society she grew up in. She stated that it was quite difficult for women in the northern parts of Ghana to easily access health establishments since it was either far off or they simply did not have the money to do so.
She also touched how our collective efforts would help ease the lives of these women immensely, encouraging all and sundry to participate.
Executive director of the foundation Mr. Ewura Adams Karim mentioned that the foundation is set to screen 3000 people across five villages in the East Gonja Municipality from 1st November, 2020 to 7th November, 2020. He therefore beckoned all stakeholders to come on board and help accelerate the vision to meet its crosshairs.
The foundation primarily seeks to provide welfare to women resident in deprived societies and enhance their social functioning capacity through innovative and dignifying economic opportunities, education, healthcare among several others.
Delivering the closing remarks at the launch, Ms. Phyllis Ampo, the Communication Director of the foundation intimated that the organization has been able to do a lot in just a few years and gave an assurance that more is yet to come as the organization has a lot more planned for the rural women. She also stated that the team is working assiduously to make sure that this year’s edition is successful. She called on the public to take regular health checks and screenings seriously.
